SILK FARM – near GRASKOP

Since 1994, Tsakani has become closely associated with the concept of African Silk.   It was one of the first companies to develop and market Wild African Silk products in South Africa.

Wild African Silk is drvied from the Gonometa postica, a species that is endemic to the Southern Regions of Africa.  The cocoons of these caterpillars are harvested in the Acacia Veld of the Kalahari.   The silk is fawn coloured and slightly textured with a soft sheen.
